| 2009 CAMP DATES: JUNE 22ND - JULY 3RD THE FIRST FREE CAMP FOR JEWISH SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA In 1993 a dream became a reality when Camp Chesed opened its doors and its heart to the children with special needs in the Los Angeles Jewish community. Hundreds of campers and counselors have learned the true meaning of "vahavta lireyach comocha," "love your fellow as yourself." At Camp Chesed, children with special needs truly become special. Two wonderful fun-filled weeks of swimming, movie-going, theme park excursions, and overnight shabatons in a kosher environment, make each child's summer unforgettable. ALL OF THIS AT ABSOLUTELY NO CHARGE EVER TO OUR CAMPERS OR COUNSELORS. Visits to Disneyland and Universal Studios, and our entire Camp session are free. Everyone, even the administration, volunteer and work for the camp without making a penny. Every dollar donated goes directly to special needs children. Our Hanukah, Purim, and Sukkoth special programs for the Camp Chesed family are like no other in Los Angeles. Our emphasis in pride and love for Judaism is highlighted in every event we hold. We take pride in being the first organization to bar mitzvah our young adults with special needs and our 2-3 counselors to camper ratio exceeds any other camp program. |
